NIGHT 108
Salto, Uruguay to Concordia, Argentina, to Misiones, AR
First the cab ride over the border.....fugatives take special note...this the the place for you!
As is the case in most South American countries there is no connection or information between borders...even if you are ten minutes away. Hence, we had to leave Uruguay to buy our next bus tickets due tot he fact that our destination was in Argentina.
Anyhow....at the border the cabbie told us to wait in the car while he took our passports inside. Capirianas (the best drink in the world) in hand we waited as he took our passports inside and got them stamped. 5 minutes! Our fastest border crossing yet......they never checked to make sure we matched our photos, they never checked our lugguage....NADA....and over the territory line we went.
Time to get on our 6, 8, 10....( no one seemed to know for sure, but it turned our to be 12) hour bus ride to Iguzau Falls.
I have to admit....I was dreading it. But, it did not turn out so bad. Dare I say....it was fun??
We had paid the extra $6 for 1st class, which meant we got to sit on the 2nd floor (much to Bryce´s delight). The seats were huge and leather and folded down all the way to sleeping position. At 8pm they showed the first movie (Spiderman 2), at 9 they served dinner....mine was a pre-requested vegetarian meal of spinach crepes, bread and salad with olives......at 10pm the second movie started and throughout it all the drink cart went up and down the aisle serving wine, beer, water and softdrinks.......and eventually free blankets and pillow. I tell ya.....this is NOT Greyhound!
Since we are three.....we always get seperated. This time Rich and Bryce sat up front to watch the movies.
I got seated in the back with a group of young, Dutch packpacker girls and a few even younger Australian guys. We had a great time! For hours we passed around bottles of wine and swapped travel stories until the wee hours. About 1AM the movies ended and the lights went out. We all settled down to sleep and I did not stir again...until I woke up....IN THE JUNGLE....with the driver yelling "Misiones, Iguazu!" Now that was an easy ride! And best of all....Iguazu Falls is near. I have always dreamed and said "Someday I will see it." TOMORROW IS THAT DAY.
P.S. Bryce took that picture of me and my seatmate Slanka! Not bad for a five year old aspiring photographer. :)

The bus sounds nicer than first class seats on a plane. Sounds like you had a great time.
