Day74
Buenos Aires, Aregentina
Drunk and happy! Its 1:30 in the morning and we are happily ensconced in The Four Seasons, Buenos Aires. And why am I writing at 1;30am?......cause its my Birthday! We rang in the 13th, (which I did not think Iwould live to see after our hurricane swept flight out of Ushuaia,) at midnight here with a surprise group of friends.....I'll let some of you guess the surprise...others might know.
Anyhow....late for the babysitter. Rich is still out at the clubs....and I just wnted to say thank you all for your Birthday wishes! I love you and will write and post pics tomorrow.

Happy birthday to you!!!!
Party like it's 1999! I hope you have a great birthday. Can't wait to hear about your recent travels and hurricane flight. I wish you a hangover free day!!!
Love, Evie
It must be very hard to celebrate your birthday in the 4 seasons BA.
Happy Birthday, we will celebrate in RIO!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BETSY!! It was great to hear your voices earlier. What an amazing place to celebrate your birthday. I wish I was there to share it with you. Have fun & have a few cocktails for me :) Say Hello to Chris for us.

Happy Birthday Betsy! Sorry you had to deal with our terrible singing on the phone earlier but we couldn't resist.
Sounds like you are having a great time...although I do wish the antique show wasn't on vacation.
This morning - we worked on a broken pipe in the 28 degree weather....again...something is wrong with this picture. You are in 80 degree warmth and at the Four Seasons and I am freezing and watching a pipe get fixed.
Great hearing yours, Rich and Bryce's voices. Ranger was wagging his little nub (aka tail) and definitely recognized you all.
Have fun birthday girl!!
Love
Paula and Dave
Happy Birthday, Bet!
Your adventures sound awesome. I´m so glad that you made it down to Antartica. Sounds like quite the journey.
We have just safely arrived in Agua Calientes after successfully hiking the Inca Trail. We will of course write about it on the blog (www.cdhoneymoon.blogspot.com for anyone interested), but it was really incredible, and incredibly HARD! I can barely walk, my calves feel like solid inflexible bricks and my knees cringe with sharp pain in every step and my thighs are shaking with weakness. My clothing is all soaked with sweat and rain and mud; and because it rained nearly the entire time, we didn´t get many great views. But I do not regret the journey. Macchu Pichu was amazing, but even moreso after hiking in the steps (literally thousands of stone steps, steps, and more steps, Ow!) of the ancient people. Our guide was great and our group of 15 bonded over the experience. All I can say is thank God for porters, or I never would have made it.
We´re in Aguas Calientes until tomorrow afternoon. We will try to hit the hot springs tomorrow morning. Any restaurant recommendations?
Can´t believe we will be in L.A. in three nights and Thailand within the week!
Sounds like you{re having a great birthday! Who was the surprise?
Love,
Carrie

I hope you had an incredible birthday! What was the surprise?

I love your comments! I feel the same way about travels too. I'm lucky to go see family in Michigan once a year and a few day trips to Madison or Chicago. We're suppose to take my mom to Paris in September for her 70th birthday (which is quite funny because mom's b-day is in August and we'll actually be there over mine & Patrick's b-days!) and I will just have to be content with that for now. With having summers off now that I'm in the schools, I hope to travel quite a bit more with or without my husband, but always with my girls!
Jule:
I'm happy to hear that you are enjoying teaching. I wish I lived closer so I could at least sit in on one of your classes from time to time. I'm sure you are a wonderful professor!!! I know Kelly thinks you are amazing. Thank you for letting us know about Kristy and Johnny too. I hope you are able to take Johnny on another trip too.
I think what is also fun about the blog is the comment section! I feel like I'm not only getting reconnected with Betsy, but also getting to know her friends which is very special to me too. I've missed too much and it's time to make up for it.
Hugs to all!
Evie
Priceless story for your birthday.
Kayla and I are sitting looking through the Rio guidebook at all the great palces. Kayla wants to see coocaracha (Corcovado) copabanana (copacabanna) and go in the cold ocean water on her belly. Then we came to a photo of two brazillian women on the beach.
Kayla says "mommy, look"
I pause and look, there two women on a beach.
"mommy, there bitinnis (bikinnis) are in their bum-bums."
Well after a hudge laugh, I say "yes Kayla, that is how they wear them in Rio"
There is a long pause and a moment of silence. Kayla looks at me and says "I think I will wear my one piece!"
Needless to say we thought of you tonight and hope you all had a great celebration! Zack is very anxious to see Bryce and dive into the water!
We are counting down the days.
Love!
All of us!
Betsy, hey we didn't know it was your birthday- we'da had the chef do cake on the boat. If you pass through Sao Paulo, we'll do one there Hope you had a great day. Cheers!
Happy Birthday Betsy. I hope it was good but not so good that we don't hear from you for days.
Sounds like there is going to be many more parties once you hit Brazil. Sort of like your dad's traveling 65th.
I hope they are all fun. Love Beth
