Day 30
This day we started our decent out of the high desert and into the Siloli.
The desert continues with fantastic rock formations, deer (called Vicunas) and plants beginning to grow.
Once again we saw no other travelers all morning, but then as you cross our highest point, 5500 meters in the Andes, you come around a curve and there is Lake Colorado. A glorious Red lake right in the middle of the desert.

And to boot....it is full of Pink Flamingos!

It is just so far beyound expectation that is baffles the brain. But, it is beautiful.
We continued on to the top of a volcano and right there spirting, smoking and bubbling.....we got out of the car! This is not YellowStone folks....there are no ropes and designated areas and we walked right to the source and gazed into the boiling pits.

This had to have been Bryce´s favorite part of the whole Bolivia trip. He delighted in standing in the wet smoke and starred in awe at the bubbles popping from the depths of the earth. This has got to be better than school!!! How many kids spend their day leaning into a volcano!
We continued on to see many beautiful lakes that day including Laguna Verde, the color of turquois stones, but filled with arsenic!
What a fantastic day! What an incredible trip....thank God we did not miss it!
